Lab Tour
Welcome to the Sleep for Science Research Lab! To begin the tour, place your cursor over an area of the lab to see a description.

Bedroom 1
Of course, the most common activity in the bedrooms is sleeping! In some studies, participants play board games or other games, such as Guess Who, as shown in the picture.

Bedroom 2
Performance tests are sometimes done sitting in bed. This is most common in Summer Sleep Camp, where sometimes participants get to stay in bed all day long!

Bedroom 3
Research participants don’t play video games, but we do have computerized tests! One test involves computerized driving while doing simple math problems.

Bedroom 4
While a participant sleeps, takes tests, watches videos, or plays games in the bedroom, our skilled technologists observe from the control room.

Control Room
The main control room is where technologists collect data and observe participants. Video and audio monitoring of each bedroom keep the techs constantly in touch. Physiological data are collected on either an ink-writing system, a computerized system, or both.

Play Room
The playroom is the place where research participants eat meals, play games, or sometimes watch videos. In the Summer Sleep Camp, participants do tai chi, play Pictionary, do crafts, and have family-style meals. EEG “hook ups” also take place in the playroom!
